Dysprosium Acetylacetonato Single-Molecule Magnet Encapsulated in Carbon Nanotubes

Dy single-molecule magnets (SMMs), which have several potential uses in a variety of applications, such as quantum computing, were encapsulated in multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) by using a capillary method. Encapsulation was confirmed by using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). In alternating current magnetic measurements, the magnetic susceptibilities of the Dy acetylacetonato com...

An NCN-pincer ligand dysprosium single-ion magnet showing magnetic relaxation via the second excited state

Single-molecule magnets are compounds that exhibit magnetic bistability purely of molecular origin. The control of anisotropy and suppression of quantum tunneling to obtain a comprehensive picture of the relaxation pathway manifold, is of utmost importance with the ultimate goal of slowing the relaxation dynamics within single-molecule magnets to facilitate their potential applications. Combine...

Employment of triketones to construct a dysprosium(III) single-molecule magnet.

The initial employment of a triketone ligand in 4f coordination chemistry afforded a series of dinuclear complexes. Magnetic studies revealed that an antiferromagnetic interaction exists in a digadolinium(III) compound, while a dysprosium(III) constructed complex exhibits single-molecule magnet (SMM) behaviour at low temperatures with an energy barrier of 86.8 K.
